A drop-point blade made of corrosion-resistant 4116 blade steel, a toxic stonewash finish on the black model serves as the mouthpiece, and a satin finish on the red model. The Fire Ant only prepares for its powerful bite when the flipper is activated, while the double detent ball mechanism keeps the knife securely open. Two balls inside the liner are pressed against the opened blade, which can be easily closed again by overcoming the clamping resistance.
