The Boker Plus Kwaiken Flipper by Lucas Burnley is probably one of the most influential designs of the 21st century. With its clear and practical shape, the modern pocket knife has become a true icon. The clean lines and slim design, which nevertheless accommodates the entire blade when closed, are absolutely unique. It is the further development of the well-known Burnley Kwaiken Classic, a sheath or hunting knife also in the neo-Japanese style. Intuitive operation is the focus of this push-button version, because the ball-bearing blade made of powder metallurgy CPM-S-35VN opens reactively via flipper and unlocks with just one press of the button on the front handle. Turn off the play instinct? Out of the question! The noble claim is underlined by the handle scales of diagonally textured titanium, which gives the knife a very special appearance. The slim design and the exclusive material make the Kwaiken a noble crossover between a gentleman's folder and a tactical combat knife. supplied with a clip (tip-up/r), a lanyard hole and a high-quality pouch for storage.

Beautiful Burnley design, quality Boker construction

I have been waiting for a 3 inch Kwaiken design in a premium steel for a while now, and this is exactly what I was waiting for! Solid construction, excellent fit and finish, and an extremely slicey S35VN blade couple with great action and high fidget factor to make this one of my favorite knives. Now make a carbon fiber one!

Although I love Lucas Burnley

Although I love Lucas Burnley designs, this Knife just hasn’t found my pocket and has since moved on to another home. Fortunately, I bought this at a discounted price on kaviso, and didn’t have to pay the $200+ that it’s normally listed at. The knife is well built with premium materials, howeve, they really dropped the ball by choosingg to go with a stainless steel pocket clip instead of titanium. Also they chose to put stainless steel liners inside of titanium scales… seems senseless to do this but most companies are:shrug::skin-tone-2:‍:male_sign: …However, the scales are nicely contoured and ergos are good. Flipper tab is ok but could be better to allow more leverage. Overall, I’d only recommend this Knife if you’re able to get it for the $130-140 it’s listed at on kaviso.com … anymore than that and I feel it’s overpriced

The Kwaiken Button lock is

The Kwaiken Button lock is a nice idea in theory, but poorly executed. The grind is uneven, the centering to the right, the lockup is light and fails under normal pressure, the "bearings" are plastic washers with the worlds smallest bearings in them making for a stepped feeling action, and worst of all the button is taller than the scales and even the pivot with a light spring. This leaves it very easy to accidentally disengage the lock with palm/finger pressure depending on the grip.

I will give them credit for a button lock that feels smooth, albeit it doesn't always actually securely lock, really nicely milled premium scales, easy disassembly, and using a premium steel, although the MSRP is a bit unattractive, if you could manage to get a flawless version for around $139 it might be worth it, unfortunately mine is both a lemon and the button is too tall, making it largely unsafe to use for any adult sized hand or any grip that may apply pressure to the plunge lock.
