Durston Gear X-Mid Warranty Information

The X-Mid is made from premium ultralight fabrics, which by their nature require more care during use when compared with heavier backpacking tents. Weight savings of your tent often comes at the cost of durability and strength, and while the X-Mid offers excellent durability for its weight, it still requires careful use. If this is your first piece of ultralight gear, please take special care to digest all best practices provided to ensure your X-Mid will last a long time.

The lifespan of your X-Mid largely depends on your efforts to adhere to our use guide and FAQ both found on the X-Mid 1P and X-Mid 2P product pages. By purchasing an X-Mid, you acknowledge these responsibilities and agree to adhere to our pitch, care, and cleaning guides.

Tent Cleaning and Care

To clean your tent, use a sponge and warm water and spot clean. If the entire tent needs cleaning, wash in a bathtub of cold water and do not soak the tent for long periods of time. Do not use hot water, bleach, dishwashing soap, or detergent to wash the tent. If needed, a mild, non-detergent based soap can be used to clean the tent.Do not clean the tent in a washing machine or dryer as it could damage the waterproof coating. When drying the tent, pitch in the shade or hang it on a line to dry. Be sure the tent is completely dry before storage.

Be sure to store your tent in a cool dry place. Keeping your tent in a hot environment can damage the tent.

Avoid pitching your tent near a heat source or campfire. When pitching your tent, take into consideration the direction of the wind and pitch your tent upwind from campfire to avoid embers. Do not use an open flame in or around your tent. Do not cook or use a heat source in the tent or in the vestibule.

Please make sure to clean and dry your tent after use and before storage. A damp or dirty tent can lead to mildew damage. Ensure you are cleaning tent zippers as well to reduce coil and side wear damage.

Pitch Tips

Please take into consideration the direction of the wind before pitching your tent. When setting up your tent, make sure the narrowest side of the tent faces the wind.

If using in a high wind situation, utilizing the guy-lines to anchor the tent will help ensure the tent holds tight. Make sure the guy-lines are taut and secured to a tent stake or another object that ensures it holds.

To ensure the most secure tent set-up, insert the tent stakes into the ground at a 45-degree angle with the bottom of the stake pointing toward the tent.

Exposure to direct sunlight over extended periods of time can damage your tent. Where possible, avoid leaving your tent pitched too long in these conditions.
